[shadow=black,left,300]The wind blew quietly, the black pond rippled with movement of perhaps a fish within it. The grass waved and the trees rustled, a long tail appeared from a bramblebush.
One red eye gazed casually along the ponds shore, a paw lifted and the feline's body shape appeared as it leapt and climbed up an oak trees trunk, lifting itself until it finally came to rest upon a thick and sturdy branch.
High above, it watched for any signs of movement before gazing quietly and peacefully into the pond's rippling water, watching the stars dance and the moon glow through the water's mirror.

The dog paced along the bank of the pond. He had escaped his master for a while. It happened often. He always came home though. River never had the guts to follow him on one of his night-time hunts.
Luca vision was poor at night, he knew cat's eyes were far better at that. But he had superior senses of smell and hearing, and he could track an animal quite easily in the gloom.
Tonight was different. He had caught and killed a rabbit, and he stank of blood. He washed it of into the pond's waters, turning the water scarlet.
Someone else was here too. A feline. He didnt know where she was, but he knew she was close. Lips drew back to reveal razor-sharp teeth, snout wrinkling, hackles raised. He let out a snarl like thunder.
"Come out come out little cat... here kitty kitty kitty... let me taste your blood..." he growled menacingly as he stalked around, trying to detect where she was...

Her ears twitched as she heard that voice, turning her gaze from the pond, she stared downward at the shadow of a large dog rumbling below. Her eyes glittered as she watched him, only to call out to him..
"Here, doggy doggy, take a look up this tree."She called in a calm manner, yet she then added in a more menacing, threatening way, "Bark at me..and I'll rip your teeth out of your head."She mrrowed with laughter. "You hear me, puppy?"

Luca's head whipped around with a snarl. The cat was above him.
"Oh... Is that a threat?" the dog chuckled. "Just like the rest of them. Pretending to be heroes until they feel my teeth on their neck... then the scream" he grinned, leaning on the tree trunk and snarling. One false move, the cat sliped or fell... then she would be his to rip apart...

"You'll regret any fights."She hissed softly, "I eat dogs bigger than you."She arched her back with a threatening, cackleing hiss. Her red eye never seemed to blink as she stared down upon the dog. "Now, mutt, why are you so far from your furless masters?"She asked with a annoyed tone.

"Once again... the hero act!" he grinned, pacing around the tree trunk.
"Oh I can come and go when I please" he said, still pacing.
"What was that!? You EAT bigger dogs than me!?" he laughed. "Dont flatter yourself kitty cat! Now how about you stop skulking in the shadows like the coward you are and show yourself!" he barked savagely...

"Very well."She hissed, leaping and soaring over him. She landed without sound beside the pond, she turned to face him. Bigger than any domestic cat, she was a Leopard, a big one at that! Her red eye glittered as she mrrowed with laughter. "Come here, Puppy, don't let me have to come over to you."She hissed, her long, thick tail lashing back and forth.

The dog flinched as the large cat leapt out of the tree. He liked a challenge though
"Oh a big one eh!?" he grinned, chuckling.
"You dont scare me missy. Little bit bigger than the adveradge moggy... but I'm still going to kill you." he grinned, snarling, circling the cat...

"I have more strength than any mutt."She hissed, her fur bristling as she unsheathed those menacing claws. "And I, could easily kill you." she retorted, her black and red eyes staring deeply into his. "Don't be a fool." she warned."I'll give you a chance to run..."
(oh, did you know that Leopards actully do eat dogs in real life?! xD I was watching Animal planet..)

"Oh I quiver with fear..." he snarled, hackles raised. He had a plan if he had to run. Over open ground, he was much quicker. So he stayed put...

(My dog is bigger than a Doberman xD and shes not even a year old.)
The she-leopard just crouched down, "I'll let you have first shot."She hissed, letting her paws spread out with more stability and prepreration. Her oddly-colored eyes watching even his smallest breath of air.

Quick as a flash he darted in, slashed the leopards flank, and darted away. He grinned again, teeth bloody...

The leopard just stood and snarled as she felt the pain that coarsed through her flank. "Fallingclan gave me powers unlike anyother cat!"She hissed, leaping at him with her claws and teeth ready. Her heavy paws hit his shoulder, pushing him, to try and throw his body onto the ground. "I'll tell you again, mutt, I'll be merciful on you! Now scram before I swallow a paw!"

The dog snarled...
"I will not forget your face kitty... I wil find you again... and kill you" with hat he nipped her nose to make her release him, and ran, racing back to the farmhouse...
... he would be back though...
